Today we'll hear the end of the radio interview with Pablo A. Bravo, author of Espirales, El Juego del Poder (Spirals, The Game of Power). He'll give us more details about his journey so far and how he's prepared for the launch. Let's begin!
Tell us about your influences: Are there any authors, works, or even other art forms (music, film) that have been a key influence or have particularly accompanied you while writing this story?
I admire many authors: Stephen King, Dan Brown, Stieg Larsson, the Brothers Grimm, Federico Andahazi, Jorge Luis Borges, Gabriel García Márquez, among so many other literary artists. I like to write while listening to music, and depending on the story I'm writing, I might switch from rock to jazz, or from classical to pop. The melodies inspire me and create the right atmosphere to give the story the right rhythm.
Looking Back: If you could give one piece of advice to the version of yourself who was just starting to write Spirals, what would you tell him about the path he is about to embark on?
I would tell her: Enjoy every step. Relax and write when the feeling comes naturally; don't force it. Let your characters guide you, and keep in mind that when they get lost, you'll have to show them the light at the end of the tunnel. Trust your instincts; everything you write won't be new, it won't be untouched, even if it seems that way. Everything you write will be part of a long process you've been going through, subconsciously, for days, months, or years. If it comes out, let it come out. That's how I cross over, unfiltered. There will be time to revise later. And… ha, it's funny… this relates to one of the first questions you asked me: it's all about evolution and resilience.
And that brings us to the end of the interview. We hope you enjoyed it. Don't miss our upcoming posts where we'll talk about the launch and all the latest news.
